Dr. V.S.Mehta is one of India’s Top Neurosurgeon. Before Joining Paras Hospitals as Director and Chief of Neurosciences in March 2006, Dr. Mehta had a successful career as Head of Neurosurgery and Chief of Neurosciences Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi. Dr. Mehta is a veteran in the field of neurosurgery and was recently elected as the president of the Neurological Society of India. Dr. Mehta is also the President of the South Asia Neurosurgeons Association and is the founder member of the World Academy of Neurosurgery. Dr. Mehta did MBBS and MS from SMS Medical College, Jaipur and MCh (Neurosurgery) from AIIMS. He joined AIIMS as an assistant professor, Neurosurgery department in 1981. He became the Professor of Neurosurgery in 1992 and was appointed the Head of the department soon after, in 1994. In 2001, Dr. Mehta was appointed as the Chief of Neurosciences, AIIMS, a post which he held till he joined the Advanced Neurosciences Centre at Gurgaon’s largest and most venerated health care facility Paras Hospital. Dr. Mehta has won many awards including E.MERK Gold Medal in the year 1980 and 1985, Jack & Monica Britton Travelling Fellowship in 1986, Senior common wealth Fellowship 1994, Visiting consultant to New Castle Gen Hospital UK in 1995, Fellow of National Academy of Sciences from 2001, Fellow of National Academy of Medical sciences from 2003, Presidential oration Delhi Medical Association 2003 to name a few. Dr Mehta has also won a Special award of excellence in Academics 2001, by Indian Medical Association and was Awarded with Padmasree by President of India for his contribution in the field of Medicine in year 2005. Dr. Mehta has been invited regularly to address the Neurosurgeons all over the world. Dr. Mehta is known all over the world for his work in the field of Brain Stem Surgery, Brachial Plexus Surgery, Aneurysms and Spinal Tumor Surgeries.
