Lasik – Removal of Glasses

 

Lasik (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a type of refractive laser eye surgery performed for correcting nearsightedness , farsightedness and astigmatism. Patients choose this technology to avoid wearing corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses. Nearsightedness or myopia (minus power) is when near objects can be seen clearly but distant objects are blurred without glasses. Farsightedness or hyperopia (plus power) when near objects cannot be seen clearly without glasses or contact lenses. Astigmatism is when somebody requires cylindrical power to see clearly.

How is Lasik procedure done?
 
The procedure is for only 10 to 15 minutes and the laser delivery itself takes less than a minute for both eyes. During the procedure topical anaesthetic drops is used and the laser treatment is applied to the cornea to reshape it and change its power. The candidate can return home after the surgery and resume the normal activities within 2-3 day or as advised by the doctor

What are the Pre operative preparations?
 
Is a non invasive method of breaking kidney Ureteric and bladder stone from outside without any operation.The crushed stones then naturally passes through urine.The Direx Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy ESWL machine available at the hospital is equipped with best state of the art technology. The machine is fully computerised.
 
What are the Pre operative preparations?
 
Individuals are advised to discontinue wearing contact lenses 1 day before surgery. Before the surgery, the patient's corneas are examined with a machine called pachymeter to determine their thickness and to measure their surface contour and a map is created. All precautions & examinations are done to make the surgery a success. In case the eye is found to be unfit for the procedure, surgery can be denied to the individual.
 
What are the postoperative expectations?
 

The vision is expected to be blurry immediately after the surgery. You would start feeling the improvement the very next day and it would continue to improve over the next few weeks. You are instructed to use a course of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops and continued for few weeks following the surgery. Patients are also usually told to sleep much more and are given a darkened pair of shields to protect their eyes from bright lights and to prevent rubbing of the eyes when asleep and to reduce dry eyes. You should avoid contact of water during the first two weeks.

 
Would you require glasses after the procedure?
