Whenever any change is noticed in the body, one may wonder whether anything is serious. In case of slimy vaginal discharge or abdominal pain, symptoms may indicate certain kind of infections. Lower abdominal pain is the pain that occurs around or below the belly button. It can be dull, sharp, achy or cramp-like pain. While vaginal discharge is normal, it secretes just to cleanse and maintain the pH balance in the body.
In case of any infections, there are certain changes in vaginal discharge. Abnormalities include an unusual colour of discharge (yellow or green), a foul odour and a cottage cheese like consistency.
Vaginal Discharge: Vaginal discharge is generally normal and occurs in various stages of menstrual cycle. This discharge is normally clear, whitish or yellowish. During the time of ovulation, women also experience vaginal discharge. But, any form of changes in amount, smell or consistency can be due to bacterial infections, yeast infections or sexually transmitted diseases.
Abdominal pain and cramps: Abdominal pains occurring on the lower side is quite common and can be related to illness. However, a cause can only be determined depending upon the location of pain. The stomach pain occurs in the upper abdomen, while the pain in lower abdomen is associated with a digestive system or reproductive organs. Stomach flu or gastroenteritis can also cause abdominal pain.
Combination of both vaginal discharge and abdominal pain: When one encounters slimy discharge with abdominal pain, it may cause due to certain illnesses and many other problems.
For examples: certain STD-like gonorrhoea can cause a change in vaginal discharge followed by the abdominal pain.
Pelvic inflammatory diseases can also cause both. However, the simple premenstrual syndrome can also cause a change in vaginal discharge with abdominal cramp.
Thus, when experiencing both together, it is better to get consult with a doctor, especially if these symptoms persist while pregnancy.
