About Dr. Onkar Kumar Jha

Dr. Onkar K. Jha is amongst the few Pulmonary Medicine super-speciality trained doctors in the country and the first DM Pulmonary medicine trained doctor in Ranchi. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Patna Medical College and Hospital, Patna. He has been awarded the degree of Diplomate of National Board in Respiratory Medicine. He has more than a decade of experience in the field of Pulmonary Medicine. After post-graduation he worked in Fortis Hospital, Noida as Junior Consultant and later as Associate Consultant. He continued his academic endeavors and pursued DM Pulmonary Medicine from Utkal university. He also pursued training of intensive care and awarded Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine (IDCCM) by Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM).

Dr Jha is a keen researcher and worked on interface of Endocrinology-Cardiology-Pulmonology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (2004-2010). He further pursued his research interest at Montefiore Medical Center, New York (USA) where he received travel grant as finalist for Toshiba young investigator award & presented his work in SCCT 2011 meeting at Denver (Colorado, USA). He has more than a dozen of publications in various indexed national and international journals with more than 100 citations. His work of Helmet NIV in COVID-19 patients was widely appreciated & chosen as 1st runner up among best researcher at Fortis Healthcare 2021. He was awarded first prize for the best paper presentation at Odisha CHESTCON in 2022.

His area of interest is respiratory diseases, Allergy, Asthma and Immunotherapy, COPD, ILD, Pneumonia, ARDS, Sepsis, Tuberculosis, Sleep Disordered Breathing, Lung Cancer, Interventional Pulmonology, Bronchoscopy, Medical Thoracoscopy, EBUS-TBNA, Lung Ultrasound and guided procedures, critical care, Difficult airway management, Invasive and Non-invasive Mechanical ventilation.
