About Dr. Shabnam Bashir

Dr. Shabnam Bashir is the Director of Surgical Oncology- Breast & Colorectal Cancers & Non-Cancer Disorders at Paras Health, Srinagar, with extensive expertise in advanced robotic, laparoscopic, and oncoplastic surgeries. Trained at premier global institutions including Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and Roswell Park Cancer Institute, USA, she is recognised as the first female organ-specific oncosurgeon from Kashmir, proficient in robotic, laparoscopic, and HIPEC/PIPAC therapies.

A passionate advocate of Preventive and Precision Oncology, Dr. Bashir has pioneered landmark awareness initiatives such as “Bluethon” (Colorectal Cancer Awareness Drive) and “Pinkayakithon” (Breast Cancer Awareness Event), both now established as annual statewide movements.

Actively involved in academic teaching, clinical research, and national faculty engagements, she has numerous publications and awards to her credit. Dedicated to patient-centric care, Dr. Bashir continues to lead innovations that advance cancer treatment and awareness across the region.

Working Experience

With over 18 years of experience, she has worked as a highly skilled Surgical Oncologist specializing in breast, colorectal, and peritoneal surface cancers. She has held key positions at leading institutions, including Apollo Hospitals in Bangalore and Mubarak Hospitals in Srinagar, where she currently serves as Senior Consultant in Breast Oncoplastic and Colorectal Surgeries. As the Founder and Director of the Centre for Breast and Colorectal Cancers & Non-Cancer Disorders in Kashmir, she is dedicated to advancing comprehensive cancer care and promoting surgical excellence in oncology.
