Ovarian Cancer arises from cells of the ovary. The tumors usually begin from the epithelium or the inner lining cells of the ovary which can be subdivided into epithelial ovarian cancer (cells on the surface of the ovary), fallopian tube cancer and primary peritoneal cancer (the inner lining of the abdomen that provides cover to many abdominal structures). Chemotherapy and surgery are generally advised for the treatment of Ovarian Cancer.
There is no such theory to define the causes of Ovarian Cancer. In generally, cancer begins when genes of a cell mutate and convert normal cells into abnormal cancer causing cells. Cancer cells multiply quickly, forming tumor which has the ability to affect the surrounding tissues and break off from the initial point of origination to spread across different parts of the body.
Early stage Ovarian Cancer rarely shows any symptoms. But at an advanced stage the following signs and symptoms may be observed:-
