For a healthy adulthood, a child’s childhood and teenage needs to be healthy and clean. Efforts to prevent substance abuse start very early in life via family bonding, education, motivation and being a role model. Teens that come out clean without any addiction usually are not likely to use drugs in adult life also. Take care of school and neighborhood also.

Point 1: How to protect your children from drug addiction: Parents need to be a role model:

The parent’s attitude towards addictions is one of the greatest factors which decide the teen’s risk. If one or both parents have any kind of addiction, it is highly likely for the kids to follow suit. Teens imbibe a lot of things by observing and store it in their subconscious minds. Be an example for your teen to follow. You cannot expect your children to be free of addiction if you yourself are into drug, cigarette or alcohol addiction.

Point 2: How to protect your children from drug addiction: Encourage productivity:

Teens are full of untapped energy and time. You need to find meaningful ways to channelise

that by keeping them busy fruitfully. Sports, dance, music or any other hobby or vocational training they are interested in will help. It develops concentration, mind-body coordination, positive feelings and reduces remarkably the need to turn to something as harmful as drugs to seek solace.
