Menopause is a moment when menstruation stops between the age of 45-55 and it leads to many physical and emotional changes in the body of a woman. Yoga is very effective during menopause as it has abilities to reduce stress, promote positive attitude and increase body fitness.

  • HORMONE LEVELS:-

Yoga is a useful tool in regulating hormones. During menopause there is fluctuation of progesterone and estrogen levels, which can trigger a number of uncomfortable symptoms. Yoga helps in balancing the fluctuations in the hormone levels and reduces the appearance of symptoms.

  • TEMPERATURE:-

Yoga also helps in maintaining the body temperature. In menopause the body temperature increases due to fluctuations in the hormone level. Yoga helps to calm the brain and relaxes the nervous system.

  • MENTAL STATUS:-

Yoga helps in reducing anxiety and irritability, as these are very common during menopause. When a person is under stress then sympathetic nervous system responses by increasing the heart rate, this leads to an increase in the blood pressure and anxiety. So yoga helps in reducing anxiety by calming the nervous system. Yoga also helps in clearing the negative thoughts from the mind

  • INSOMNIA AND FATIGUE:-

Yoga helps in reducing insomnia by keeping the nervous system calm and oxygenated and also helps in avoiding fatigue and lethargy.

  • MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM:-

Yoga helps in minimizing physical pain by maintaining a range of motion of joints and increasing flexibility in the joint and by decreasing joint stiffness. Yoga also helps in maintaining muscular strength by proper oxygenation and stretching. Yoga helps in improving physical fitness by maintaining weight because weight gain is common after menopause.

  • OSTEOPOROSIS:-

Yoga helps in preventing osteoporosis by weight bearing exercises. Osteoporosis is very common in female after menopause. It can be avoided by yoga.

  • MAINTAINING WEIGHT:-

Yoga also helps in maintaining weight after menopause by maintaining proper oxygenation, circulation and digestion. Weight gain is very common after menopause due to fluctuation in hormonal levels. So yoga helps in maintaining physical fitness.

  • BLOOD PRESSURE:-

Yoga helps in reducing increase in blood pressure by promoting blood circulation and oxygenation in body.

  • MOOD SWINGS:-

Mood swings are common during menopause because fluctuations in hormones like progesterone are responsible for depression. With yoga adrenalin releases feel good hormones by proper oxygenation (by meditation and deep breathing) in the body and helps in creating a feel good aspect emotionally.

  • MEMORY:-

Due to fluctuations in hormones, some female feel foggy and confused. With the help of yoga proper oxygenation in the nervous system can be achieved and it can help in nourishing the nervous system.
