If you are suffering from high blood pressure or hypertension a few changes in your diet can help you a long way.

  • Avoiding a high salt diet should be should be on the top of your list as it increases blood pressure.
  • Eating processed foods like a pickle, bread should be avoided as it contains more sodium.
  • Fruits and vegetables are important and one should keep oily and fried food away.
  • Canned vegetables have high sodium so eating fresh fruits is a better option.
  • Eat high fibre foods like vegetables, sprouts, brown rice, beans.
  • Avoid eating refined and processed food items as they have added fats, sugar and sodium content.
  • Calcium also helps in controlling hypertension so low-fat dairy should be chosen like low-fat milk, yoghurt and cottage cheese.
  • Full-fat dairy, flavoured milk, sweet yoghurt should be avoided.
  • Eat at least 4to 5 servings of vegetables that have potassium.

  • Banana, coconut water, broccoli are good for hypertension.Nuts are healthy snacks. Everyday 30grams nuts can be eaten but their fried or roasted forms should be avoided as they have added sodium and fat.
  • Pickles, fast foods, canned foods, margarine, red meat is very high quantity, high-fat food, sugar should be avoided.
  • High intake of sugar can increase body weight that in turn can raise body weight.
  • Packaged foods need to be avoided they are loaded with extra salt, sugar and fat and all of them raise blood pressure.
  • People with blood pressure also read food labels they will make them aware of sodium and fat in the food and that will help them in choosing healthy foods.
