As the old saying says- Eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper!!

Yes breakfast is the most important meal of the day. To jump start our body pack your meals with all healthy nutrients!!. Start by eating right. Following are few healthy recommendations.

  • Peanut butter, banana and chia toast( multigrain bread)

Ingredients: peanut butter- 1 teaspoon,

                      1 banana –sliced

                      2 slices of multi grain bread.

Method- on a slice of multigrain bread spread peanut butter, place sliced banana and sprinkle chia seeds.

  • Oatmeal porridge (savory) with an egg

Ingredients: oats- 30 gm,

                       Toned milk- 1 cup,

                       Whole egg- 1

Method- roast oats mix it with milk+ salt + black pepper (to taste). Wrap it in half fried egg.

  • Oat- egg cheela/omelet

Ingredients-Carrot- 1/4th cup,

                      Beans- 1/4th cup,

                     Capsicum 1/4th cup,

                     Oats flour- 1- 1/2 tablespoon,

                     Whole egg- 1,

                     Oil- 1 teaspoon,

 Method – Whisk it with an egg. Add vegetables and cook it over the pan.

  • Quinoa porridge with vegetables

Ingredients: Quinoa- 30 gm

                       Carrot- 1/4th cup,

                       Capsicum -1/4th cup,

                       Broccoli- 1/4th cup,

                       Beans-1/4th cup

Method- roasts quinoa over light flame and stirs it in water with vegetables. Add herbs and salt to taste. Cook till done.

You can even make quinoa fruit salad- Boil and strain quinoa and add all fruits + chaat masala + lemon juice to taste.

  • Quinoa milk porridge with chia seeds

Ingredients: Quinoa- 30gm,

                       Milk (toned) – 1 cup

                      Sugar- 1 teaspoon

                      Chia seeds- teaspoon

Method- roast quinoa in a pan, gradually add milk and stir. Then add sugar and chia seeds. Bring it to boil. Serve once tender.

  • Oats rava idli

Ingredients: Oat flour- ½ cup

                      Semolina-1/2 cup

                      Curd-1/2 cup

                      Water-3/4th cup

                      Cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon

                      Asafetida- 1/4th teaspoon

                      Green chili- 2

                     Coriander leaves- 1/4th cup

                     Ginger grated-1/2 tsp

                     Cashews- 2 tablespoons

Method:  combine oat flour, semolina, and curd in ¾ cups of water. In a pan add mustard seeds, once done add cumin seeds and asafetida and sauté. Add this tempering, grated ginger, cashews, green chili and coriander leaves to the oats mixture and mix well. Pour this mixture to idli moulds and once ready enjoy it with mint raita or sambhar.
