FIAGES Fellowship

FIAGES is the certified fellowship of the IAGES (Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons). The aim of IAGES is to have an organization of surgeons to promote, spread and disseminate the rapidly growing knowledge and advancement of Endoscopic Surgery in every corner of India. In the era of advancement in laparoscopic surgery, surgeons consider it advisable and preferable to have an accreditation from a National / International body as laparoscopic surgeons. The Fellowship of the IAGES is unique since it takes into consideration the seniority / and contributions of the senior surgeons and at the same time assesses the involvement of the young surgeons by an examination after a structured course. The aim of the fellow ship is to establish uniformity and highest standards of practice and training in Endo-surgery.

FIAGES is a 3-day program comprising of educational lectures delivered by leading national faculty, Endotrainer sessions and live Laparoscopic Surgeries.

IAGES will conduct a 3-day Fellowship course in Laparoscopy from 27 to 29 October 2017 at Paras Hospitals, Gurugram. The course will be balanced nix of didactic lectures by eminent faculty with ample time for discussion, video presentations, open house sessions, symposia and direct informal interactions of groups with eminent faculty(Meet the professor). Participants will get amole time on endo- trainer under close guidance and supervision of faculty to improve their hand eye co-ordination by structured exercised. Besides the allotted time, there will be liberal availability of endo-trainer at other times.

The objectives of the course are to impact/update theoretical knowledge by close interaction and improving hand eye co-ordination. There will be many unique features in the course to make it more useful, convenient and memorable for you.

On the third day, i.e. 29th October, a live operative workshop will be held. Commonly practiced basis and advanced laparoscopic procedures will be shown by eminent faculty who are masters in their field with emphasis on the correct practices. The workshop shall be an open house interactive session with delegate as the central point.

It gives a good opportunity to young surgeons to ask question freely and get more time for discussion about individual difficulties/teething problems during their early experience. Delegate can opt for the session and option should be given at the time of sending registration form. The topics include common basic and advances procedures.

Trainees will get ample opportunity to practice knotting and suturing in the lap trainer under the direct supervision of faulty on day 1 and day 2. Final practical assessment of suturing skill will be on day 3.

These sessions are essential to improve the important skill of endosuturing .

At the end of the course the candidates will be assessed for the certification. The method of assessment will depend on whether the candidate is in examination or Non- examination category.
