About Dr. Mir Tariq Altaf

Dr. Mir Tariq Altaf is an accomplished Consultant in Orthopaedics at Paras Health, Srinagar, with over 10 years of experience in orthopaedic surgery. He holds a super specialty degree (M.Ch) in Paediatric Orthopaedics from the prestigious Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, making him the first orthopaedic surgeon from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to receive this specialised training.

Trained under leading experts including Prof. Vrisha Madhuri, Prof. Thomas Palocaren, and Prof. Abhay Gahukamble, Dr. Tariq has developed advanced expertise in a wide range of paediatric orthopaedic procedures such as trauma surgery, growth modulation, corrective osteotomies, limb lengthening, soft tissue reconstructions, and treatment of benign bone tumors and chronic musculoskeletal infections.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Tariq is deeply involved in academic activities, having authored 11 publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals. He has also presented at reputed conferences such as the Indian Musculoskeletal Oncology Society (IMSOS) and Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA). He plays an active role in teaching, research, and surgical training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He was recently invited as faculty and delivered special talks on pediatric orthopaedic topics at the North Zone Orthopaedic Conference in Ludhiana in 2025.
