About the procedure
This procedure has two approaches and can be done either through an external incision at the base of the nose or from within the nose. The adjustments in the nasal bones and cartilages and the use of local or general anesthesia both depend on the complexity of the surgery to be performed. Generally, the patients are released from the hospital on the same day. The patient may experience slight swelling in the region of the surgery. After the surgery the patient must avoid strenuous exercises, limit the use of facial expression for some time, and must not blow his/her nose. A nasal pack may be attached within the nose by the surgeon to help maintain the shape of the nose. This however gets removed usually in less than a week.
