Stress Test
We have specially designed Cardiac Stress Tests that study your heart rate and the rhythmic changes it experiences as you exercise or perform different physical activities. This test helps doctors recognize any heart problems or diseases like CAD (Coronary artery disease) within the heart which may not be visible or predictable otherwise. The test generally involves a treadmill / stationary bike test, the nuclear test or the Echo, while machines monitor your heartbeats and the breathing patterns.
Possible Reasons
Unhealthy lifestyle,medical history, mental/ physicalstress
Preparing for the test
- Prior to the test, inform the doctor about any medications you’ve been taking or anything he should know. He may ask you to not take certain medicine doses or smoke before the treatment.
- During the test, you are hooked up to some equipment that monitors your heart rate while you walk on a treadmill or paddle a stationary bike.
- After the test, you are made to rest still either in a sitting or lying down position, where your heart and blood pressure continues to be recorded.
The results
Depending on the patterns of your heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, electrocardiogram, and the level of tiredness, the doctor may generate a report describing your heart function and its normality.
Though not very complex, stress tests are really important for recognizing heart diseases and also guiding treatments for already prevailing heart ailments. A treadmill test is also advisable to be taken up as a part of regular heart checkup every few months, especially for patients with a heart disease history. If a problem is diagnosed during this test, further tests and treatments are prescribed by the medical practitioner.
