Hypertension means an increase in blood pressure. The risk of heart disease and stroke increases with hypertension. Lifestyle plays a very important role to lower your blood pressure. If you successfully control your blood pressure with a healthy lifestyle, you might avoid/ delay or reduce the need for medication.

30 minutes of daily workout reduces the risk of hypertension. If you have increased blood pressure, exercise will help you to lower the same. And if you already have hypertension, the regular physical activity can help you to lower the blood pressure to a safer level.

If you are overweight there is a high possibility that you may be suffering from high blood pressure. So, follow a balanced diet chart regularly and do exercise to reduce overweight.

  • Eat a healthy diet.
  • Reduce the quantity of salt in your diet.
  • Quit smoking.
  • Limit the amount of alcohol intake.
  • Exercise will also help to reduce your stress and stress will lead to increase in hypertension.
  • Intake of caffeine can raise your blood-pressure up to 10mmHg who rarely consume it. So, limits the intake of caffeine.
  • Breathing exercise is very effective to release stress as well as to lower blood pressure.
  • Cardiovascular or aerobic exercise can lower your blood pressure and make your heart healthy. Moderate intensity heart-pumping exercise like basketball, jogging, tennis and even mopping the floor are best to lower the blood pressure. Do not worry if your blood pressure increase during aerobic exercise, this is temporary. But when you have a feeling of chest pain and breathing discomfort, stop the exercise immediately and take clinician’s advice.
  • Build up your strong muscle with the help of strengthening exercise. It will help you to burn more calories throughout the whole day.
  • To become more flexible, stretching is very important.
  • Dancing also helps to reduce the high blood pressure and also provides integrity of joint.
  • Weight training programs can also lower the blood pressure.
  • If you don’t have enough time to maintain a regular exercise program, then make a ten minutes exercise program three times in a day.
