It should be done every month but doctors recommend checking by experts also.
Mammogram: Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women and mammography is the basic test to screen for tumours of the breast. It is specialised X-ray of the breast better than standard mammogram should be done at 35-40 years.
Pelvic examination and PAP smear: Cervical cancers is the second most common cause of death from cancer in women. Although many younger women are now vaccinated against the HPV strain but still who past the age need to be alert from this killer disease. So Pap smear remains preventive screening test of choice.
Immunizations: You should get a flu shot every year. You should have DTAp vaccine also and you should get HIV vaccines also which is given from age of 9 to 45 years. You should get vaccinated against hepatitis B also.
HPV Test: The HPV DNA test is used in women to detect the sexually transmitted infection that can cause cervical cancer. It is performed on the same specimen taken at the time of your PAP smear.
