Ovarian cancer is a disease in which abnormal or cancerous cells begin to multiply out of control in the ovary and form a tumour. It can spread to other parts of the body if not treated. Early symptoms are very vague and hence only 15 -20% are detected at an early stage. There is no routine screening test to detect ovarian cancer available till date.

Signs and Symptoms associated with Ovarian and Cervical Cancer:

Symptoms are usually as follows-

  • Bloating

Cancer cervix also does not cause symptoms in early stages but fortunately, it has a routine screening test called PAP smear which can be used for monitoring and detect it early.

  • Vaginal bleeding- Irregular bleeding per vaginum, bleeding in between periods, after sexual intercourse or postmenopausal bleeding. Bleeding can occur after pelvic examination also
  • Vaginal discharge- Watery, pink, foul-smelling discharge all the time. Smell is apparent from a distance
