Women ! God made mothers because he couldn’t come down for each one of us , God made wives to take care of men when their mothers get older , God made daughters as blessings !
So in a nutshell , women are the backbones of our society and must take care of their health to the utmost . The following are a must do list for the woman of today who has to take care of herself and her family. Remember your family depends on you, hence follow the given details to the T:

  • Opt for Self Breast Examination: Breast self examination  is something which all women should learn . Keep looking for lumps and irregularities periodically and report to your doctor in case of any doubt.
  • Opt for Pap Smears Regularly: Go for a Pap Smear, once in five years if you are going for a liquid based cytology or once in three years in case you are getting a conventional Pap Smear . Cervical Cancer is one of the leading cause of cancer death in our country, hence the importance of Pap Smear.
  • Regular checkups with a Gynecologist: Regular medical checkups ensure that you share any abnormality that you may be going through. A woman’s body goes through various changes and it is important to keep a check on the same. A gynecologist may ask for an ultrasound if required and routine blood tests as indicated.

  • Quit Smoking: Smoking should be a strict No –No as it causes lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease . Smoking in women on combined oral pills can lead to heart disease and stroke.
  • Limit Your Alcohol Intake : Alcohol consumption should be in moderation only to prevent liver damage.
  • Skin Checkups: Opt for a routine check up with a dermatologist to report irregular freckles and moles which can be signs of skin cancer. Remember what a dermatologist can do and recommend, a local beauty parlor cannot. Don’t ignore any pigmentation, skin colour change or change in the size of any mole.
  • Best to Opt For a Skin Cover : Always apply a sunscreen to prevent skin damage . SPF 30-50 sunscreens work well . Try not to venture out without covering up well. Use an umbrella or cloth to protect your skin.
  • Get checked for STD’s : Screening for sexually transmitted diseases when indicated must be done and appropriate treatment to be taken .
  • Take Care of Dental Health : Regular dental checkups also are a must. Ignoring a decaying tooth or cavity can aggravate matters. Please also note that tooth extraction s and root canals may be restricted due to pregnancy or other gyne conditions.
  • Keep Your Heart Healthy: Precautions against heart disease by getting BP checked regularly and lipid profile should be done periodically .
  • Exercise : It is a must for all women . Thirty minutes of aerobic exercise daily  reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke , type 2 diabetes , depression and even some cancers .
  • Opt for Yoga & Meditation : Yoga is a form of exercise which is beneficial for women of all ages and is perfect for the mind , body and soul .
  • Eat Your Fill – But Keep It Healthy : Last but not the least , eat healthy ! Lots of fruits and vegetables , whole grain and dairy products.
