Gurgaon Feb 4, 2018: The history of Delhi Neurological Association (DNA) harks back to 1936 when the best of neurosurgeons indigenized the treatment in India for the common man. Neurosurgery is a complex field to major in and DNA boasts of the best of collaborative efforts with 465 neurosurgeons across India. DNA 2018 was one such event where the best in the field were recognized with discussions on revolutionary endeavors in the field of neurosurgery, spinal injuries, bronchial plexus injuries and much more. The highlight of the event was the lifetime achievement award bestowed upon the top neurosurgeon in India currently the head of Neurology department at Paras Hospitals; Dr. Veer Singh Mehta.

Awarded the Padma Shree in 2005, Dr. V.S Mehta is an institution in himself when it comes to neurosurgery and has trained the best of neurosurgeons of India. Spanning an experience over 40 years and proving his acumen across the world, Dr. V.S Mehta still humbly states “Such awards provide us confidence and motivation to continue our clinical journey. I thank the able jury for their time for honoring medical professionals. Being a doctor and a super specialist requires a lot of hard work and persistence. Such events definitely create a positive impact on the medical fraternity. The importance of associations like DNA would remain immortal as their work is exemplary. DNA is a testimony to the evolving face of neurosurgery in India.”

Dr. V.S Mehta has also been a chief of the neurosurgery department at AIIMS Delhi. He specializes in brain stem surgery, brain tumors, brain aneurysms and brachial plexus surgery. His history of medical professional journey commands the best success rate of 99% commendable for a neurosurgeon. Recently having operated a four-year-old girl from Uzbekistan for a complex brain tumor, his expertise symbolizes wine which only grows better with time. Defeated after visiting four countries for a rare brain tumor, the Uzbek family’s search for affordable and effective core ended at Dr. V.S Mehta of Paras Hospitals.
