Most rural and semi urban areas lack tertiary healthcare facilities and patients in emergency conditions are usually referred to the nearest cities from these areas. While the Delhi NCR region has several tertiary care centres, the adjoining towns lack the same.

Considering the existing gap, Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon, with its dedicated facility, intends to address the issue of lack of tertiary care by sending one of its joint replacement specialists, Dr. Deepak Thakur, Senior Consultant, Joint Replacement, Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon to the newly launched OPD. The specialist shall also perform joint replacement surgeries in Meerut and also refer the complex cases to the dedicated Joint Replacement Centre at Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon.

At Paras Joint Replacement Centre, the surgeons perform all surgeries with state of the art computer navigation system and specialize in complex knee, hip, shoulder and elbow replacement, revision joint replacement and arthroscopy.

“Prior to the establishment of the OPD, people from Meerut and other remote areas were required to travel distances such as Noida, Delhi and even to Gurgaon due to lack of any services to offer tertiary care. At Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon, we receive many patients from Meerut, not just for complex joint replacement surgery but for general consultation as well. That’s why we thought about the need to fill in the void in the city itself, so that people can visit our facility and avoid travelling all the way to far off place. We are happy to perform joint replacement surgeries in Meerut but may need to channelize some of the complex cases to Paras Joint Replacement Centre for computer navigated surgery,” said Dr. Vivek Logani, Chief of Joint Replacement Services, Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon.

“In regions such as Meerut, which fall on outskirts of big cities, people often do not know the importance of tertiary care. People here are always less aware about complex bone conditions that they might suffering from. For people in need of complex surgery are often referred to far off hospitals, where reaching the hospitals becomes challenging. The doctors running the specialized OPD shall provide services of consultation and surgery in hospital itself, so that patients from remote areas can avail of maximum benefit under one roof ” said Mr. Gautam Anand , MD , Anand Hospital, Meerut

Notably, the OPD would be operational on weekly basis, every Monday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
