Dr. Amitava Sengupta was awarded the Best Pediatrician and Neonatologist in Delhi NCR at a ceremony organized on Aug 20, 2017, at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. The event was attended by notable doctors of national and international repute who competed with each other for various categories. The prestigious award was adjudged by notable jury members – Dr. Mahendra Bhandari, Padma Shri (Reputed UroSurgeon), Dr. Girdhar Gyani (Director General at Association of Healthcare Providers), Dr. Lily D Engineer (Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine).
Dr. Amitava Sengupta is an exceptional Paediatrician and Neonatologist of national and international repute. He was the Chief Advisor of 49th Annual National Conference of Indian Academy of Pediatrics- IAP (Pedicon 2012). He specializes in managing premature babies and has trained from the prestigious Utrecht Children’s Hospital, Netherlands in Neonatal Intensive Care. He is the medical advisor to various international and national NGOs related to children’s work, like Netherlands Inter Country Child Welfare Organization (NICWO) and Prayas, New Delhi. He has been involved in Neonatal Intensive Work at different prestigious hospitals in Delhi for more than two decades. He is actively involved with various academies and national bodies like National Neonatology Forum (NNF) and Indian Academy of Paediatrics. He has been chiefly responsible for developing the Paediatrics and Neonatology unit at Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon – an above tertiary care facility. He has also been instrumental in developing and implementing Developmental Supportive Care (DSC) in association with NNF.
Under the able guidance of Dr. Amitava Sengupta, numerous neonatal babies have been given exceptional care and treatment. The developmental supportive cares highlight the importance of touch, light, and conduct on a baby when he or she is admitted to the NICU.
