Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon celebrated International Women’s Day by presenting roses to every woman patient in the hospital and to the staff members. The hospital also organized a special photography and self defence training session for their women employees. The training was imparted by specialists who also briefed women to be prepared for every situation. Apart from the training they also counseled the employees to form help groups. They invited volunteers who can help women , if they are in a problematic situation.
Women were also given demonstration on how to deal with eve teasing and chain snatching. Live training was given in knife protection, front fall, body hold and neck hold. Women were also given sessions on ‘close combat training’- offering a mix of kick boxing, lock and hold, karate, muay thai and jiu jitsu.
According to Dr Neeraj Bishnoi, Facility Director, Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon, “Hospitals requires doctors, nurses and support staff to be present 24X7. Many a times women employees leave the hospital premises at old hours. As responsible employers we ensure that they are provided safe transportation, however we are also to prepare them to face any eventuality. The rises cases of incidences with women prompted us to arrange activities that can sensitize our women employees.”
Dr Jatinder Kumar, Group Medical Director, Paras Healthcare, further states, “ International Women’s Day is a beautiful occasion to salute the women in our life. Hospitals are one of the largest employers of the women force. 98% of the nurses in any hospital are women. It is our duty to salute and thank each one of them who contribute to make our lives better. The self defense training is today also an integral part. We need to ensure that women are independent, empowered and ready to face and win over every eventuality .”
