- Paras Global Hospital carries out first ever hip transplant of 65 yo woman suffering from BP and diabetes
Darbhanga, 19 February, 2018: Paras Global Hospital relieved 65 yo Tarun Devi and helped her lead a normal life after the successful completion of a hip transplant. Dr Dilshad Anwar from the orthopaedic department of the hospital after a 2.5 hour surgery managed to make the transplant successful. Tarun Devi, who earlier was unable to move, is now able to walk with the help of a walker and will possibly start walking normally without any help soon. Such surgeries can be carried out easily and successfully at Paras hospital.
Dr Anwar said, “Tarun Devi suffers from diabetes as well as blood pressure, hence we had to take special care during her operation. It was detected that her right hip had rheumatoid, arthritis and fractures in a lot of places. Also the shape of both the knees had started getting deformed. An ultramodern implant was inserted called the modular bipolar while the hip was imported from America.” He further added that “The presence of state-of-the-art equipment makes it possible to carry out such complex surgeries successfully at Paras. All kinds of surgeries are possible here. Her left hip is functional, however if needed, even that can be easily replaced. She has been discharged from the hospital.”
Tarun Devi and her son were immensely thankful to Paras for providing a new lease of life to her. “I never thought I’d get back to leading a normal healthy life and I cannot thank Paras and its team of doctors enough for making it possible,” said Tarun Devi.
