Paras HMRI Hospital, Patna was awarded the prestigious Maximum Outreach Hospital of the Year Award at Medcon 2016, a national event organized by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) at Hotel Le Meridien in New Delhi on March 10 2016. The event witnessed the participation of various hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, NGO’s, medical supplier and other stakeholders associated with the Indian Healthcare Industry.
Paras Patna has been awarded for their overwhelming engagement in rural marketing. The hospital had a specialized team of more than 30 individuals who were detailed to spread awareness about rising incidences of cancer, cardiac disease, diabetes and other communicable and non communicable ailments griping the state of Bihar. Being the pioneers in multi super specialty care in Bihar, Paras Patna considered it their responsibility to have a wide spread impact to create a ‘Healthcare Revolution in Bihar’. Over 2 years the team generated considerable awareness by associating at the grass root level with village sarpanchs, gram adhikaris and the district magistrates. Ranging from health talks, health checks to nukkad nataks , the rural marketing team not only sensitized the masses on prevention but also helped them get specialized care in their homes.
According to Dr Ravi Shankar Singh, Regional Director East – Paras Healthcare, under whose guidance the program was initiated, “ This was a unique initiative taken up by a private hospital. The aim was in coherence with the vision and mission of our hospital chain – To provide affordable, accessible and quality care to the masses. We want to change the perception of the public. This was an initiative to spread the message of prevention and also educate the public on the most important aspect – Early Detection and Timely Treatment. Through this program Paras Patna used to organize more than 50 camps all over Bihar and touch the lives of thousands. Over a span of 2 years we have made a difference to the lives of more than 50 lakh individuals through direct contact.”
According to Dr Aruna Bhoy, Zonal Director, Paras HMRI Hospital, Patna, “Such initiatives require not just innovation but exceptional zeal in implementation. The young team of more than 30 individuals ensured that medical care reaches to places where basic amenities such as electricity, clean water supply and roads are not available. This award is a motivation for the young force and the doctors who have been working persistently to make this program a success.”
