About Dr. Pankaj Kumar Barman

Dr. Pankaj Kumar Barman is currently serving as Principal Consultant and Head of Department – Medical Oncology at Nepal Mediciti Hospital, Nakhu, Lalitpur. With over a decade of experience in the field of medical oncology, he is widely recognized in Nepal for his expertise, patient-centric approach, and leadership in cancer care.

He earned his MD in Internal Medicine from Gauhati Medical College & Hospital in 2007, followed by a DNB in Medical Oncology from Army Hospital, Research & Referral, New Delhi in 2012. In 2017, he achieved his European Certification in Medical Oncology (ECMO) from Madrid, Spain.

Dr. Barman has previously been associated with Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon; BLK Superspeciality Hospital, New Delhi; and B&B Hospital, Kathmandu (in collaboration with BLK Cancer Center). He has been instrumental in establishing the Nepal Mediciti Cancer Center in 2017.

    • Left vs. right-sided colonic malignancies (clinical profile and outcomes)
    • Adenocarcinoma lung in smokers vs. non-smokers
    • First-line platinum doublet chemotherapy in adenocarcinoma lung patients
    • Weekly vs. 3-weekly Paclitaxel/Carboplatin for advanced ovarian cancer
    • Maintenance hormonal therapy outcomes in advanced ovarian cancer in Nepal
  • Published multiple articles in national journals on topics such as cervical cancer vaccination, cardiac complications of retinoic acid syndrome, spontaneous tumor lysis syndrome in paediatric Burkitt’s lymphoma, HIV and multiple myeloma, and autologous bone marrow transplantation in NHL.
