Launched Of Heart Failure and Arrhythmia Clinic in Patna

Patna, 18 November 2017: A Heart Failure and Arrhythmia Clinic was launched at PARAS HMRI super specialty hospital, Raja Bazaar on 18th November 2017. The clinic was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of Dr A A Hai and Dr S N Arya. The objective behind the opening of the clinic was to put a check on the rising number of deaths due to heart failure and arrhythmia in Bihar. Dr U C Samal, Director, Cardiology and Heart Failure Clinic, Paras HMRI Hospital said on the occasion, “There are several reasons behind heart diseases, which eventually result in heart failure. However, it does not immediately lead to death but it does reduce the working capacity of patients and also affects the quality of one’s life.”

Regarding the symptoms of heart failure, Dr Samal further added, “In such cases, the patient suffers from heavy breathing, swelling of legs and is unable to concentrate on any work. One suffers from palpitation which might result in paralysis and sudden death. He said, “This is Bihar’s first ever hearth failure and arrhythmia clinic. None of the government or private hospitals in Patna offer such treatment. Thus, it becomes the responsibility of not just heart specialists to save such patients but medical specialists with expertise in treating B P and diabetes should contribute in saving such lives. Only then can we think of properly treating heart failure and other related diseases. It cannot just be treated through medicines but a device called CRT is placed inside the patient’s body. Because of B P and diabetes in a patient, blood pumping reduces and there are chances of heart failure.”
