Man’s life saved after three cardiac arrests at Paras Global Hospital Darbhanga

Life of Vinod Mandal, a 52 year-old man from Darbhanga, who suffered from three cardiac arrests, was saved at Paras Global Hospital, Darbhanga. In case of a heart attack, every second is precious to save the life of the patient and in this case the timely action gave a new life to the patient.

Heart specialist Dr Jyoti Prakash Karn (Cardiologist) of Paras Global Hospital, who treated Vinod said that the relatives of the patient brought him to the Paras hospital after he suffered cardiac arrest in some other hospital where he was admitted earlier. As his condition worsened, Vinod’s relatives brought him to Paras hospital for treatment.

When Vinod was brought to Paras hospital, the doctors were unable to trace his blood pressure as well as pulse rate as his condition was critical and he was also unconscious. ‘Vinod was also suffering from lack of oxygen when he was admitted to the hospital’, said Dr Karn.

Soon, after admission in the emergency department of the hospital, Vinod was put on advance Cardiac Life Support system and was given Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by Dr Sumit Kumar.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions often with artificial ventilation in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest.

Vinod was then put on ventilator and given medications.

However, as he was about to recover, Vinod suffered yet another cardiac arrest following which he was again administered CPR.

However, his condition improved following temporary pacemaker implantation after which the doctors implanted a permanent pacemaker to Vinod.

After implantation of permanent pacemaker, Vinod was kept in the hospital for three days after he was discharged. Now, he is completely fine and doing well, Dr Karn said adding, ‘We could save Vinod’s life because the hospital has got all the requisite facilities for treating such patients.’

Vinod’ relatives expressed their gratitude to the doctors for treating him successfully as they had lost all hope of his successful recovery. They also thanked the hospital for successfully curing him. Vinod, too thanked Dr Sumit and Dr Karn for his speedy recovery.

Prompt reaction by family members and timely intervention by the Doctors of Paras Global Hospital, Darbhanga saved the life of a 52 year old Vinod.
