Patna: One can see the ambulance of Paras HMRI Hospital moving around the city’s congested areas or police check posts. The health workers in the ambulance give tips to the traffic police how to escape from the scorching heat and asked to take water or drinking liquid to avoid lack of water in the body. They are also given training of how to help and provide immediate medical aid, also called basic life support training, to the people getting injured in road accidents. The policemen are also advised to stand under shadow for a while to refresh themselves. The health workers also give health drinks to them. The ambulance starts from Saguna More and moves towards Punaichak, Hartali More, Income Tax roundabout, Dak bungalow crossing, Kargil chowk, Ashok Raj Path, Kankarbagh and Patna junction.
Dr Talat Halim, Regional Director, Paras Hospitals – East, shared, “Under Corporate Social Responsibility Paras has taken up this initiative to help traffic policemen and others purely on humanitarian ground. The health workers and nurses in the ambulance also check blood pressure and sugar level. Once a policeman had 200 BP and he was immediately provided medicines. A policeman was injured near the ambulance and he was treated on the spot.”
Dr Halim said that due to increasing load of traffic and rush the policemen could not leave their duty place and they are bound to be hit by a heat wave.The ambulance also carries life saving drugs and equipments.a
