As winter weather rolls in so do colds and flu. But for those with asthma it can be a basically stressful time of year because even a simple cold virus can trigger a major asthma event. In asthma the lungs are already existing irritable and more reactive.

Treating Winter Asthma- People with Asthma not only use quick relief meds  they often require to take medicine every day for long-term asthmaAsthma is caused by inflammation of the small tubes known as bronchi, which carry air in and out of the lungs. If you have asthma the bronchi will be inflamed and more sensitive than normal.

Symptoms are follows :-

  • Sneezing.
  • Nasal stuffiness.
  • Runny nose.
  • Itchy, watery, burning eyes.
  • Itchy mouth .
  • Wheezing.
  • Coughing.
  • Difficulty breathing.

To keep asthma attacks in control during the cold-weather months, here are 10 things you can do.

  • Wash your hands. Properly- with soap and water is one of easily  and good ways to ignore spreading or catching colds and other viruses.
  • Get a flu shot-The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggested  that several  people age 6 months and older get an annual flu shot to help protect against the flu virus.
  • Don’t sit by the fireplace-While sitting by the fire sounds lovely and cozy its not so great for your asthma.
  • Keep your mouth closed- Few people find a ski mask or face mask helpful
  • Replace filters-Your home heating system may blow dust and debris throughout your house, basically  when you first start it up for the winter.
  • Exercise indoors-The temperatures and the humidity in the gym are few  likely to cause a problem.
  • Warm up before working out-A recent research  showed that people with asthma recover faster and have greater lung function after exercising when they are warmed up.
  • Take a preventive dose Take a preventive dose of your asthma medicine before heading outside, whether to exercise.
