About Dr. V S Mehta
Padma Shri awardee Dr. (Prof.) V. S. Mehta is one of India's most distinguished and internationally renowned neurosurgeons, with over four decades of pioneering contributions to Neurosurgery. Honoured with the Padma Shri by the President of India in 2005 for his outstanding contribution to Medicine, he is widely recognized as one of the architects of modern neurosurgery in India.
Formerly the Chief of the Neurosciences Centre and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Mehta transformed the department into one of the leading neurosurgical centres in India and Southeast Asia. A pioneer in Brachial Plexus Surgery, Micro-Neurosurgery, Brain Stem Tumour Surgery, and Giant Intracranial Aneurysm Surgery, he introduced Day-Care & Short-Stay Neurosurgery in the country. Currently, he serves as Chairman Emeritus – Neuro Sciences, Paras Health, continuing his legacy of excellence in patient care, academics, and surgical innovation.
