About Dr. Prof. Bashir Ahmad Laway

Dr. Bashir Ahmad Laway is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Endocrinology at Paras Health, Srinagar. Professor B. A. Laway has acquired his training in Endocrinology at prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi. He is recipient of award of AV Ghandi award for excellence in Endocrinology. He has worked as faculty at Prestigious Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar for around 30 years. He has trained more than five dozen D.M. students who are working as leading Endocrinologists across the length and breadth of country and abroad. He has a vast clinical and academic experience related to Endocrine disorders. He has an extensive research experience as evidenced by around five thousand citations, an h-index of 36 and an i-10 index of 92 on Google scholar, around 160 PubMed indexed publications. Has huge experience in diagnosis and management of common and rare endocrine disorders like diabetes, pituitary disease like hyperprolactinemia, thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, gonadal disorders (both in men and women), like PCOD; metabolic bone disorders like osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency; paediatric endocrine disorders like disorders of growth and puberty in children and disorders of adipose tissue like obesity. His special interests are use of new technologies in diabetes like continuous glucose monitoring (CGMS), interpretation of thyroid imaging and assessment of bone health in the form of detailed evaluation of DXA scan and its subsequent management. In view of his vast Experience, it is worth getting a second opinion from him regarding any endocrine disorder.
